Ida Benucci doubles for the moderns

Since September, in via del Babuino, Ida Benucci has doubled her gallery and added a second entrance on via dei Greci, where she has set up an environment for exhibitions of contemporary artists. In 1980 the antiques shop opened its first space in Via Giulia, specializing in furniture and paintings between the 17th and 18th centuries and the so-called “primitives”. Later she took over the atelier that had belonged to the nineteenth-century sculptor Adamo Tadolini and then the historic tapestry works of Erulo Eruli, still active in recent times. “After studying the changes in taste, I decided to also exhibit modern and contemporary artists together with antique furniture, tapestries, gold and silver”, explains the gallery owner. “I’m interested in Ceroli’s work, but also works by Christo, Schifano, Guarienti, Botero, Chia, Paladino, Schnabel, Mitoraj”. In the new route you will also be able to see archaeological pieces, a seventeenth-century pair of Venetian dressers, a sixteenth-century Florentine bookcase, an eighteenth-century bed with original Lucca fabrics.

Ida Benucci raddoppia per i moderni

Da settembre, in via del Babuino, Ida Benucci ha raddoppiato la sua galleria e aggiunto un secondo ingresso su via dei Greci, dove ha predisposto un ambiente per le esposizioni di artisti contemporanei. Nel 1980 l’antiquaria aprì il suo primo spazio in via Giulia specializzandosi in mobili e dipinti tra ’600 e ’700 e nei cosiddetti «primitivi». In seguito rileva l’atelier che era stato dello scultore ottocentesco Adamo Tadolini e poi le storiche arazzerie di Erulo Eruli, ancora attive in tempi recenti. «Dopo aver studiato i cambiamenti del gusto, ho deciso di esporre anche artisti moderni e contemporanei insieme con mobili, arazzi, ori e argenti antichi», spiega la gallerista. «Mi interessa l’opera di Ceroli, ma anche lavori di Christo, Schifano, Guarienti, Botero, Chia, Paladino, Schnabel, Mitoraj». Nel nuovo percorso si potranno vedere anche pezzi archeologici, una coppia seicentesca di comò veneziana, una libreria fiorentina cinquecentesca, un letto settecentesco con tessuti lucchesi originali.
