Diocesan Museum of Amalfi and Cloister of Paradise

With the patronage of the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Amalfi, at the Diocesan Museum and Cloister of Paradise in Amalfi, the art exhibition entitled “Meditations” curated by Federico Simonelli. The exhibition will remain on display at the Diocesan Museum and Cloister of Paradise, from 1 June to 1 July, 2012. Diocesan Museum of Amalfi and Cloister of Paradise is an important Art museum in Amalfi housed in the Basilica del Crocifisso di Amalfi (9th century). It displays treasures of the Roman Catholic Archidioces of Amalfi. The Museum is housed in the Basilica of the Crucifix, the originally Cathedral Church, whose origin dates back to the year 596. In 1100, the new cathedral was built next to it and together formed a single church of Romanesque stile. Later, in the Baroque period, they were covered with marble and stucco and restored as two separate and distinct churches.
